Working alongside English Heritage and a specialist stone contractor, B&F fabricated and installed a striking 7-meter high patinated brass screen for the latest Royal Garrison Church restoration project, which was completed in 2023. This new screen replaces the previous sectional cast concrete and glass screen installed in the late 1960s.

This bronze screen features a structural stainless steel core and solid profiles, ensuring both durability and aesthetic appeal. The installation is complemented by powered automatic swing doors and anti-reflective Sunguard glass, enhancing functionality and visitor experience.

One of the key challenges in this project was the limitation on fixing points within the historic building. To address this issue, the structural design was carefully engineered to span between minimal points, minimising damage to the original fabric and avoiding destructive imposed loads. This approach demonstrates the team’s commitment to preserving the church’s historical integrity while seamlessly integrating modern elements.

The successful completion of this project showcases B&F’s expertise in working with historic buildings and their ability to deliver innovative solutions that harmonise contemporary design with architectural heritage.
